The numbers on the canvas appear jumbled: lashes of color have broken up the sequential progression typical of quantitative measurement (1, 2, 3, etc.). It is intended as an invitation to contemporary man not to seek happiness through the accumulation of material goods, because that would be fleeting, but to seek it within his own soul, the only place where lasting happiness can be cultivated.
